Lisbon, above all things, is known for its stunning sunsets. A shimmering, golden goodbye occurs every day here and has become quite a ritual for Lisboans. It’s tradition to stop what you’re doing, find a miradouro, or “viewpoint” in English, and take in the natural awe that is a Lisbon sunset.

Beyond its sunset tradition, Lisbon is also famous for its hills meaning that there are a plethora of places to catch the occasion. Some of these locations can be overcrowded and, dare we say it, touristy. The best places are the more hidden gems and we’ve got three of them!

Miradouro da Senhora do Monte

If you want panoramic views without the climb, then Miradouro da Senhora do Monte is going to be your jam. Of course, like all of Lisbon, there’s still a bit of an incline to get there, but the walk is gentle and accessible for most.

Reep the rewards of the climb by soaking in the 360-degree views. When the sun does set, be sure to enjoy what’s around. Have a tasteful cocktail at Estaminé Art Food Drink or have an evening stroll through the park Jardim Da Cerca Da Graça.

Stay close by in an Ukio home so you’re only a couple of blocks away from some of Lisbon’s best views. Tinggi shines in design and location while Seminiak allows you to step into an Indonesian oasis.

Miradouro São Pedro de Alcântara

When golden hour comes, Miradouro São Pedro de Alcântara is where you want to be. The views over the cityscape are unbeatable, but what’s great about this scenic point is the setting itself. Miradouro São Pedro de Alcântara offers rich greenery, plenty of seating, and lovely pathways for a walk during the sunniest part of the day, too. You’re sure to hear live music from the many street performances creating a vibrant experience for all.

If you want to keep the soulful spirit going, head to Jam Club just a couple of paces away from the lookout. Here, they offer swanky drinks and lively performances.

Ready for rest? A trek up to any Lisbon hill can be exhausting, so make sure your accommodations are close. Kamour provides you with the convenience and style right in the heart of Baixa-Chiado.

Miradouro de Santa Catarina

Lastly, we have the captivating cityscape that is Miradouro de Santa Catarina. This one isn’t for the faint of heart; promising a steep climb. Fortunately, the sweat equity amounts to gorgeous views of Lisbon’s surroundings.

Any good hike in Lisbon calls for a pasteis de nata; the national relic in Portugal. Enjoy this tasty treat at the nearby bakeshop, Manteigaria, claimed to be the best pasteis de nata shop in Lisbon…and we don’t take that lightly.

Take some of these scrumptious snacks for the road and enjoy them at the nearby Karimata or Hinako apartments.

Lisbon’s hilly terrain means incredible views around every corner. Soak in the views at any of these great scenic spots or gaze out from the comfort of our own home, with our many, centrally located homes.
