Andorra

Andorra Mountains

The small principality of Andorra is located between France and Spain in the Pyrenees mountains. Its lush geography is made up of mountains, valleys, and streams which make it and its surrounding areas ideal for the perfect mountain getaway.

Explore Andorra’s capital city of Andorra la Vella and visit some of the many sites including the Romanesque Sant Joan de Caselles chapel, or have a spa day at Centre Termolúdic Caldea, the largest spa complex in Southern Europe.

If outdoor activities are your calling, then Andorra la Vella’s surrounding areas provide the perfect terrain and backdrop for a scenic hike through the valleys and across the high peaks and glaciers. You can also try your hand at rock climbing or mountain biking as well. In the warmer months, the Estanys de Tristaina and Lake Engolasters mountain lakes are the perfect escape from the heat.

In the winter, Andorra is famous for its skiing and snowboarding across Europe, as many locals flock to the area to enjoy various winter sports. Vallnord is probably the most well-known ski and snowboarding destination in the area.

One thing you cannot miss if you choose to venture out to Andorra is the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This protected area is home to a variety of species of plants and animals that make it look exactly out of a picture book. The valley is only accessible on foot, so gear up with a good pair of walking shoes to experience this gem.
